Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s …..David Corenswet! The biggest Hollywood news just exploded. The new Superman has been cast, and newcomer 29-year-old David Corenswet will be the man of steel. His onscreen love interest, Lois Lane will be portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan. After a lengthy audition process, the 2 future superstars were selected by James Gunn (Director of Guardian of Galaxy movies) the new CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran.
The New Superman
The incredibly good-looking David a native of Philadelphia. He had his breakthrough in ‘Hollywood’, a Netflix series set in the 50’s as a struggling actor who moonlights as a gigolo. He also appeared in ‘House of Cards’ and recently, the critically acclaimed horror movie, ‘Pearl’, produced by A24.
David shall join the list of notable actors who have portrayed the man of Steel on the Silver screen. Which includes the one and only Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh (2006) and most recently, Henry Cavill.
His co-star, Rachel is a multi-award-winning actress known for her role in the TV series Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She had also guest-starred in Grey’s Anatomy and Orange is the New Black. Rachel is also the niece of the late luxury fashion designer, Kate Spade.
The movie entitled Superman Legacy will focus on the hero’s early days, balancing his Kryptonian heritage and also as Earth’s adopted son. James Gunn will take over both writing and directing duties, at the same time overseeing the reboot of the entire DC superhero films (which includes Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Aquaman).
The Audience will be excited about the movie’s arrival, to see if it could even come close to the iconic Superman the Movie (1978). The pioneer of superhero films. The world waits with bated breath, till then, up, up and away!
