What’s New on Netflix: August Edition

Hold on to your snacks…

Last month, we saw the finale of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series and the debut of Netflix’s groundbreaking animated original, K-pop Demon Hunters — and yes, those songs are still stuck in our heads (I’m still singing “GOLDEN” in the shower).

Now, a fresh wave of shows is hitting Netflix this August — and if you’ve been counting down the days for Wednesday Season 2 and a slate of new K-dramas, you’re not alone.

Let’s take a look at what’s hot this month!

WEDNESDAY SEASON 2

Netflix
Netflix

One of the most-awaited Netflix original series. WEDNESDAY returns with a second season (The third season is currently brewing), bloodier and crazier. In the previous season, Wednesday Addams solved a murder mystery and uncovered the mysterious Hyde, at the cost of Principal Weem’s life.

This time, she returns to Nevermore, and we can see the familiar faces like the bubbly Enid Sinclair, Bianca and other Nevermore students. New faces, new mysteries, it’s a wonder what Wednesday will uncover this time. Premiering on 6 August.

Blood Brothers

Looking for something local? Blood Brothers hits your screen on 10 August, following its breakout success in local cinemas. The story follows Ariff, an elite bodyguard who’s forced into a deadly showdown after being framed for a crime — while his best friend Ghaz becomes his greatest enemy.

If you’re a fan of Sharnaaz Ahmad and his high-octane action stunts, this one’s made for you.

Night Always Comes

Starring Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible, Fantastic Four), Nights Will Always Comes will be premiering on 15 August. Vanessa plays a desperate woman who tries to raise $25,000 after being evicted and plunges into the crime world. Plus, this film is Vanessa’s debut as a film producer.

Bon Appetit, Your Majesty

Time travel? Gourmet cuisine? Royal drama? Bon Appétit serves it all. The story follows a French chef (played by Im Yoon-ah) who accidentally travels back in time and lands in the Joseon era — where she meets Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae Min), a feared tyrant… who just happens to be a gourmet expert.

And yes, Lee Chae Min — the heartthrob from Hierarchy — returns to your screen this August!

The Thursday Murder Club

The Four Horsemen of acting legends on one screen? Believe it. The Thursday Murder Club — starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie — lands on Netflix this 28 August.

The story follows a group of sharp-witted elderly sleuths who set out to solve a murder in their quiet retirement community. Think Knives Out meets Downton Abbey — this one’s guaranteed to grab your attention.

More To Come on Netflix

In fact, with its wide range of movies, viewers are bound to find something that suits their taste.
