In a thrilling announcement that has music enthusiasts in raptures, Coldplay, the iconic British band, has been scheduled for a quartet of spectacular shows in Singapore. The much-anticipated concerts are set for January 2024, promising to kickstart the year with a bang.
Setting Records at Singapore’s National Stadium
According to concert organiser Live Nation, Coldplay is all set to grace the stage at Singapore’s National Stadium on January 23, 24, 26, and 27 next year. This phenomenal run marks a historic first, with Coldplay being the first music act to play four consecutive concert dates in Singapore.
The last time Coldplay serenaded Singapore was back in 2017, delivering an unforgettable two-night spectacle at the very same venue. Their imminent return has, naturally, got fans eagerly marking their calendars in anticipation of another mesmerising performance.
Sneak Peaks and Rising Excitement
Adding to the mounting suspense, Live Nation Singapore recently stoked the flames of excitement by sharing cryptic teasers of the band’s tour on digital platforms across the city-state. Fans will be able to secure their tickets from June 20, starting at 2 pm via Ticketmaster. Entry tickets commence at an affordable S$68 (RM234), not including booking fees.
The Singapore concerts form a part of Coldplay’s much-lauded Music of The Spheres World Tour’s second Asian leg. This exciting journey will also see the Grammy-decorated rock band perform in Manila on January 19 and in Bangkok on February 3.
As a first, the band will enchant Malaysian fans with a one-night-only performance on November 22 at Stadium Bukit Jalil. However, the Malaysian concert has not been without its controversies. Frustration mounted among fans who found themselves unable to secure tickets when the sale began on May 17, with tickets vanishing in less than three hours.
Adding fuel to the fire, numerous disappointed fans expressed their annoyance at discovering scalpers hawking tickets online at sky-high prices, considerably above the official ticket rates.
Fan Frustration Fuels Additional Date Requests
Following these unfortunate incidents, a wave of disappointed fans took to social media, pleading with the band for an additional performance date. Amidst the clamour, the Music Of The Spheres World Tour continues to shine, having sold over seven million tickets and bagging Coldplay the Favourite Touring Artist award at the 2022 American Music Awards.
