Beauty Beyond Ageism is a bold and timeless conversation in Kuala Lumpur.
Four fearless women stepped into the spotlight to deconstruct beauty standards and reclaim the narrative around ageing, power, and femininity. It built a masterclass in grace, grit, and glowing defiance.
Beauty Has No Expiry Date

At the heart of the panel was Ethel Da Costa, media maven and the fiery founder of EMPOWER. Ethel champions womanhood by redefining ageing—not as something to conceal, but as a force to embrace. Beside her stands Lira Jamaluddin, Digital Editor of The Highlighter, who continues to shape the modern beauty narrative for a generation of women unafraid to be seen and heard.

The two were joined by Malveen Kaur Gill, Miss Globe Malaysia 2021 and pageant mentor extraordinaire, and Dato’ Choi Wei Yee, founder of TDOX Asia, a trailblazer in regenerative wellness. Each brought a distinctive lens to the discussion, but all shared one mission: to disrupt outdated ideals and advocate for beauty rooted in individuality and vitality.
From Anti-Ageing to Ageless Confidence
For far too long, the word “anti-ageing” dominated skincare aisles and marketing campaigns, pushing the false idea that growing older meant losing value. These women challenged that rhetoric. With wit and wisdom, Malveen reminded us that real beauty isn’t retouched — it’s experienced. Dato’ Choi shared insights from her work in regenerative medicine, showing that self-care can enhance, not erase, the journey of age.
Lira, ever poised, spoke on the importance of digital media platforms amplifying inclusive narratives. She championed representation, not just of age, but of stories, skin, and lived realities. And when Da Costa posed the question, “What if ageing was the luxury?” — the room fell into thoughtful silence.
Power in Reflection

The panel closed with a deeply personal gesture — writing letters to their younger selves. Words once kept private now served as public declarations of healing, evolution, and self-worth. It was a moment of reckoning and celebration; of recognising that ageing isn’t a loss, but a layering of wisdom, style, and voice.
The Future Is Ageless
This wasn’t just another beauty talk. It was a movement. Beauty Beyond Ageism invited women to rewrite their beauty scripts — to shine, not shrink, with every passing year.
