Returning as part of Malaysia’s BIGGEST BEAUTY WEEKEND, this year’s competition invites emerging and professional makeup artists to transform the face into a work of art inspired by the theme BEJEWELLED: The Art of Adornment.
Taking place during KL International Beauty Week 2026, from 9 to 11 October at MVEC, Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, the competition promises a striking showcase of technique, imagination and individual artistry.
Where Makeup Meets Adornment
BEJEWELLED challenges contestants to look beyond traditional beauty and explore makeup as a form of decoration, self-expression and visual storytelling. From intricately placed crystals and luminous metallic pigments to sculptural embellishments, pearls, gems and unexpected textures, contestants are encouraged to interpret the theme through their own creative lens.
The final look can be elegant, futuristic, theatrical, avant-garde or entirely unexpected. What matters most is that it captures the transformative spirit of adornment while demonstrating a strong understanding of makeup skills.
This is not simply about adding sparkle. Contestants will need to create a cohesive beauty look in which every colour, crystal and embellishment contributes to the overall concept.

Open to Emerging and Professional Makeup Artists
The competition welcomes both beginners and professional makeup artists, providing an inclusive platform for participants at different stages of their creative journeys.
Contestants will have one hour to complete their BEJEWELLED-inspired makeup creation. Make up artists may create the look on themselves or work with their own model.
Participants are encouraged to arrive with a clearly developed concept, prepared embellishments and a strong plan for completing their work within the allocated time.
The competition is open to beauty enthusiasts and makeup artists above 18 years old, male or female. Whether you are professionally trained, self-taught or beginning to build your beauty portfolio, this is an opportunity to present your skills to the beauty community.
What the Judges Will Be Looking For
Each completed look will be assessed according to several key areas:
- Creativity and originality
- Makeup application and technical ability
- Use of colour, texture and embellishment
- Interpretation of the BEJEWELLED theme
- Overall finish and attention to detail
- Visual impact and storytelling
While crystals and decorative elements are central to the theme, contestants should remember that makeup remains the foundation of the final creation. Embellishments should enhance the artistry rather than overwhelm it.
The strongest entries will balance beauty technique with thoughtful placement, imaginative storytelling and a memorable overall presentation.
